In this article we will give you an introduction to give you a smooth start with MusicReader. Please fully read the sections below and check the reference to more information. LibraryThe library in MusicReader is a normal folder on your system containing PDF Files.The actual location of the folder can be configured in the settings. After installation the standard location is "Sheet Music PDF" under your Documents folder. The PDF files in the library folder contain all information, changes and annotations you make. Inside the library there is a library.xml file, but that one is only caching information for fast retrieval. Add FilesThere are multiple ways to add files:
Open and Closing FilesTo open files click the library icon in the menu:![]() Then you see the library and are able to search for files. To open a file please click it. For detailed information read this article. There is no need to manually close or save changes made to files. All changes are automatically saved to the PDF file. PlaylistIn the library you can add pieces to the active playlist.To do this every file has this icon: ![]() Press this icon to add it to the playlist. Files that are added to the playlist show this icon: ![]() If you have your screen in landscape then you can also see the playlist overview. PlaylistA playlist is a list of PDF files, in most cases the program of a rehearsal or performance.Playlists function as one piece containing the selected files, so after you finished the last page of one file, it will go to the next. In that way you can use a group of files without manually loading them. You can also save playlist for future usage and load ones already saved. Playlists are .mpl files and are normally stored in the library folder. To open the playlist screen press this icon: ![]() Activate an empty playlistTo activate an empty playlist you press this icon in the playlist screen:![]() The existing playlist will then be unloaded and you will see an empty list. If you already had a playlist active then please be aware that changes are discarded. So save existing playlists before activating a new one. Add Files to PlaylistAdding files to the playlist is done through the library screen.Please read the library information on top of this article for more details. For fast access to the library press this icon in the playlist screen: ![]() Save and Load PlaylistsPlaylists can be saved in a .mpl file to make it easy to use it again.If you want to save a playlist then please press this icon in the playlist screen: ![]() You will then see a save dialog. The standard location for saving playlists is the library folder. If you make changes to playlists then you need to save them manually. This will not be done automatically. If you need to load a playlist again then press this icon in the playlist screen: ![]() You will then see a dialog where you can select the .mpl file you want to load. The loaded playlist will be activated automatically. For more information, see the Playlist section. BookmarksMusicReader support bookmarks to make jumping to certain locations easy.The bookmark overview is located here: ![]() In the bookmark overview you see all the created bookmarks. Click the bookmark to jump to the page that contains the bookmark. On top there is an "Add / Remove / Modify" button. After clicking this button you can:
It's also possible to add linked bookmarks. These bookmarks contain a link to another bookmark. When you press such a bookmark on screen the software will jump to the page with the other bookmark. Linked bookmarks can be created in the same way as normal bookmarks. For more information about bookmarking check this article.
